The bilateral trade turnover: the two countries are witnessing a considerable trade growth (in 2001, the two way volume totaled 45.6 million USD; in 2002, it reached 48 million USD; in 2003: around 90 million USD; in 2004: 119 million USD; in 2005: 247 million USD, and in 2006: around 300 million USD). Vietnam exports to Cuba rice, coal, electronic and domestic equipment, electric fans, light bulbs, garment and footwear. Vietnam imports from Cuba pharmaceutical products and raw materials that worth approximately 2 millions USD. Both sides maintain regular meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Committee that takes place alternatively in Vietnam and Cuba.

Concerning science and technology: both sides have implemented many cooperation programs and projects, intensifying exchange of experts on agriculture, cattle raising, construction, biotechnology, pharmaceutical as well as fisheries, petroleum, finance, television and sports...

Concerning culture and education: Cuba has been of great help in the field of education and training around 2,000 officials in different fields.
